Can i keep two males together ?
Definitely not they are not called siamese fighter fish for nothing.
Can i keep a male and female together. In 9/10 cases no there is the odd exception to the rule but trying could cost you the life of the male or female.
Where are you based can i pick up instead of having my betta posted?
I welcome pick up from my fish room in Portsmouth so long as i know when your coming.
How do i pay for my Betta?
You can pay by paypal , this is the easiest way for payment. Cheques and postal orders are too much hassle for me so i do not accept.
Can you post outside the UK?
No i categorically cannot post outside the UK. For starters there are no carriers prepared to take livestock and secondly the amount of paper work to process simply isn't worth it.
Can i keep more than one female?
Yes a group of females is fine , you may get some fin nipping but nothing serious.
I've taken delivery of my fish but he is not very energetic and doesn't look like the colours in the photograph?
Sometimes Bettas will take some time to get over their journey through the post. Please give them time to recover. They should then regain their colours. Sometimes Bettas change their colours over a short time so if i have had them sometime after the they were photographed the colouring may have changed.
I've never had a Betta before are they difficult to keep?
No Betta are not difficult to keep so long as you follow=w the advice on the web site. Varied diet water changes weekly and almond leaf and tonic salt are all good for a bettas health.
My local fish shop says its OK to keep a Betta with no heater.?
It is not OK to keep Bettas in a tank with no heater. They need to kept in a tank with a temperature between 77-80 F
What's the minimum size tank for a betta?
I would recommend a minimum of 5 gallons.
My Betta arrived and there is a leaf in the box, what's that all about?
The leaf you have received is an Indian Almond leaf. They are fantastic for your Bettas health, you should use the leaf in your tank. 1 leaf per ten gallons. Check out the info on Almond leaves on the site.
When I get to check the web site the fish that I want is always sold can I order a certain colour?
Yes you can place an order for a certain colour. I cant guarantee that i can get it for you but i will try. You wont have to pay up front and i will notify you when i receive the fish, photograph it and then you can decide whether it is the Betta you would like .
If my Betta arrives dead what happens?
Your Betta will only be sent if it is healthy enough to travel. in the unlikely event of DOA, i will send you a re[placement to the same value. If instead you require a refund i will refund the cost of the fish but not the postage.
The information on your site conflicts with what my local fish shop says, who do i beleive?
I Have kept Bettas for 30 years on and off, i am the only person in the world to have gone to the trouble of making a dvd about Bettas so i think i know what im talking about.
